Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire from destruction in the wake of a plot by Haman, a story recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther. Where the uncle (Mordechai) pimped out his niece (Esther) to the king so she could sweet talk him while having sex

Having said that, it is the most enjoyable and fun Jewish holiday celebrated by both children and adults. Traditionally the costumes where characters from the story, but today it is a free for all dress-up parade

Sukkot or Feast of the Tabernacles Sometimes spelled Sukkot Succos, Succoth
is a Jewish Holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei (late September to late October). It is one of the three biblical pilgrim festivals when it was traditional for Jews to visit the Temple in Jerusalem.

The holiday lasts seven days. The word Sukkot is the plural of the Hebrew word sukkah, meaning booth or hut. The sukka is reminiscent of the type of the fragile dwellings in which the ancient Israelites dwelt during their 40 years of wandering in the desert after the Exodus from Egypt. Throughout the holiday the sukkah becomes the living area of the house, and all meals are eaten in it. Some believers even sleep in the sukkah On each day of the holiday, members of the household recite a blessing over the Four Spices

Jewish New Year and High Hilidays

Being based in the Holyland, one of the main topics we cover is religion

The Jewish New Year Ended on last Sunday while the Muslim Ramadan is soon to end. In a couple of days some of the Jews will be fasting and praying on Yom Kippur. As there is no car traffic other Jews will be riding bicycles in the streets This is the quietest day of the year.
