Carmel forest fire update 5 December 2010

Fire still raging on
Efforts by firefighters and rangers to save the Hai Bar animal sanctuary


Kibbutz Bet Oren burnt to the ground


International air support of 33 planes in the air to help contain the fire

The Carmel wild fire - some after pictures and comments

This wild fire is far from over but at some parts the fire has burnt out. Kibbutz Beit Oren was burnt to the ground. Here is a picture from today December 4th of what is left from the cemetry


I am also very please to announce that ALL the animals in the Hai-Bar are safe That is because they learnt the lesson from the last fire. On the other hand, our useless government, politicians and especially our Minister of Interior (Eli Yishai) who is officially in charge of the Fire Services, are busy blaming each other and passing responsibility down the chain. Even the Palestinians have newer equipment than Israel - This is oin the head of the head of the Minister of Interior

UPDATE Deadly wild fire rages in the Carmel Mountain

The fire damage is spreading. Wildlife has been devistated
The Hai-Bar Animal sanctuary and breeding centre has burnt to the ground. Caged birds where moved elsewhere Manuals were released to fend forthemselves. The Carmel Hai Bar has (had?) the largest breeding nucleus of the endangered Persian Fallow Deer (Dama dama Mesopotamica)


The artist village of Ein Hod is burning


Isfiya - a Druze village is being evacuated parts are burning
